Naval Cutter "Alert" 1777
-
Hehe Thanks guys,Everything is modelled in Sketchup, and im using Max to render, the first few shots were with KT.
Deck Fittings Added,Ladders and the Hanging Knees were added,There was little information on them but because of the way that each beam meets the inner hull at a different angle, each hanging knee is very different thus has to be custom made,Found the Wagon -
Whwn its done you need to do some sort of cross section to show off the insides!
-
Here is a View of the decks and layout :

Download it and attach straight to the post, please.
(And yes, this is an incredible project so please, keep them coming!)
-
Hehe was worth a try,its a animated Gif so uploading it renders the animation inactive, shows on my pc so i thought I have found a way around it,can understand why,Ideas?
-
Impressive work...well presented.
-
Many more Bits and Pieces added, smaller details take some time, all done as low poly as possible (Well to my standards ) She is nearing the 20,000 poly count at the moment,Taking away the faces facing up from the framework below the decks freed up 4000 Polys,My Budget is 100k,Im sure I will get her in under 50K
-
Indeed, an incredible model!
I have a question totally unrelated to the model. As I was looking over teh beautiful project, I wondered how you are going to get it to the water?
Is there a method that a ship like that would be launched, the beach is pretty flat.
Just wondering.Stephen
-
Stephen The whole yard is suppose to be at an angle and she is Tied down from when her keel is laid, when the ship is complete she will slide to the water which is suppose to be behind her ,like such :
-
Well thats it for this Year Folks,Have a good one!
Iron Firehearth and Stove added,Jeer and topsail bitts added along with the Modified Windlass (Modified in 1777,not by me )
All you can see of the stove in the last 2 shots is the Flue and the coaming on the deck. -
Stunning. Keep up the beautiful work.
-
Is this for the Smithsonian? National Geographic?
Wow. I just learned more about old boats/ships and shipbuilding than I've ever known.
-
For me it is one of the best in this year, thank You and Happy New Year to alllll!
-
"Extreme modelling" at its best! I just love all the detail.

Fantastic work thanks for sharing
-
Thanks guys,She is coming together nicely but there is still so much to do,and I cant wait to paint her to her original colours!
6 and 4 pounders added,Coming in at 1200 each there will be 16 of them in total, comes to 19200 polys for the cannons, which I think is abit on the steap side so ill be messing around with them to bring it down abit, each poly saved is multiplied by 16 so ill be optimising to the max.
-
More please!!!
This is incredible!
-
Hehe Here you go
The Paint has finally been added,Along with The Anchors,Swivel guns,Hatch covers,Sky light,Doors and Frames and the Anchor lines and its pieces :
-
Axeonalias, not much people can say, the model and rendering say it all
-
It's easier to see in the closeups that it IS a low poly model, but damn, it still looks fantastic!
