Please control Sections In Scene Manager
-
When you save a scene you can check off the aspects you wish to save in the extension panel of the Scenes Window. Until you try to save a section cut, when you have to play around with the Styles Windows. Why? The descriptions of styles don't include Sections, you have to guess whether or not section visibility is included. On the other hand, sections ARE included in the Scene Window, though checking it doesn't seem to do much.
I turn sections on and off by the menu when I want to see them in Sketchup. When I want to show them in my output I save them in a scene.
I don't change styles because the default works for my purposes, so I confess, I don't much use the Styles Window. I always thought of it as something you use to change the style of the output, not the content.
Best,
Jim

About where to control section cut/plane visibility in the styles panel, see your other post .
In SU, there is a setting under Preferences > General: "Warn of style changes when creating [updating] scenes". Keep that checked and any time there is a need to update a style or create a new one, SU will remind you.

Wow, it's been almost a year since I posted this, and I still have this problem pretty much every time I have to deal with section cuts— a half dozen times easily.
Thanks for the tip, Gaius, and for your lessons here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=33550&p=295626&hilit=+section+cut+scenes#p295626 I still have trouble.
Sometimes when I save a scene, per Gaius' instructions, the active section cut does not save with it. I play around with scenes manager, with styles manager, with menu choices, and update, update, update and still the section cut does not stick.
I can't describe the frustration when it takes longer to debug a problem than it does to set up and dimension construction drawings from a SU model. Repeatedly.

After changing the active Section Cut you must also update the scene.
