GOOGLE: how trusted can it be?
-
I don't trust them at all!

If one has nothing to hide, one has nothing to worry about. I could give a rats ass who or what sees what I do on the net. I have nothing to hide.
And you?
-

That says it!!
Yep. It's been quite interesting how this same topic has come up in testing the Chrome OS and Chromebooks that Google has handed out for testing.
Big questions about feedback and Google tracking usage. It's been kind of sad how fearful people are about all of that.
Financial information, I understand. The rest is paranoia.

Really? And if the regime changes - think Caribou Barbie getting elected prez, total tea-party victory in senate and house, complete theocratic take-over - what then? You have just publicly cursed, expressed anarchist tendencies and ungodly arrogance about your purity. Off to the re-education churches with you!
What you need to keep private is not a static thing.

The question is whether or not Google will "sell out". So far, I feel that Google has the consumer's best interests in line (not divulging personal info a la Facebook, fighting for net neutrality, etc...),but they have done other things that make me wonder if, in the end, they are just like any other business and will tell you anything you want to hear and still try to sell you their mother.

Why would anyone thrust "Google"? I have a UTube account that I use to post a few videos. Somehow UTube knows what my "off the wall" preferences are, even though I don't use UTube to search for those subjects.
My Mom once told me "it's not your enemies that hurt you, you know who they are, and avoid them. It's your friends, those that you thrust that get to you". Problem is, it doesn't help to know this.
