Jubilee Church - by R. Meier

Thanks Alessandro, and Honolulu,
Please try link again, seems to work fine. -
That looks totally awesome, Fletch!
I do hope you thought to incorporate sun shading in the design... it's gonna be hot in there. -
Thanks Martha.
As the title of the thread points out, this is designed by Richard Meier... and is a built project.
I'm certain the real church wouldn't let this much sun in. -
yep the links work fine now (I realized there was something wrong with the whole twilight site yesterday)
I hope the Mac port will come soon because I'm eager to play with TRthanks again,

What a beautiful design (and render too!). We need more churches like this in England!

England needs more buildings like this. But churches? No.
-
This is one of my all time favorite architectural works, and your rendering has done it proud.
Love to see more. -
....O-O-O good! ...thank you Fletch!
-
Thanks all, small update to make the model a tiny bit more true to life...
I'm usually more of a Calatrava fan, but this is my favorite Meier building.

Yes. Why not? I presume you've actually been in an English church? They are freezing cold, uncomfortable buildings, that few wish to stay in.

Tom, I personally believe England has enough churches already, any more and it will look like our bible belt in the USA, secondly your cold and uncomfortable churches are drowned in rich history, which is the whole appeal, in any case y'all are normally all at a soccer game on Sunday in the cold uncomfortable outdoor seating so y'all are used to it. <--green smile.
Oh, by the way, awesome work Fletch.

Totally awesome photo's Fletch!

GREAT RENDER Fletch!
I visited it some time ago (I'm italian) and it is great indeed!
Meier worked very well also for the Ara Pacis museum, some years later.Did Frolfer share the model, by the way?

Many of Sir James Stirling's designs incorporated large glass areas. This works well in the climate of Britain. You folks are lucky in that you do not have to spend a lot on HVAC/refrigeration, or at least that is what I gather.
However, what is not generally reported on is that many great works of architecture leak like a sieve.
I personally believe that thermal and moisture control is a vital part of architecture. There are those in denial of this.
