Filter plugin.... groups & components

hello all

in my work flow, I draw shapes, turn them into groups, and when need to make copies turn them into components first.

so, in my model there are only groups and components.

I look for a plugin that would do the following :

filter components and groups, ie: if I want to hide all components and keep the group on the screen, or apply a texture to all components but not to the groups, etc...

any idea of an existingplugin ? if not any volunteer to help me sort this out ?

Sorry, I can't help with the plugin but I'm curious. Why not make components from the beginning and skip the steps of converting groups to components?

If you don't need components then using groups makes sense as they don't show up in the Component Browser (which clutters up all to quickly)

You can use my Selection Toys plugin to filter out Groups of Components from your selection.

I see. I only make components for my work because there's always more than one of any given part.

Yes, Thom's Selection Toys should be on a mandatory pro user list of plugins. I couldn't image going back to modeling without it.
