SpaceBall 5000 and SketchUp 8
-
Hi folks, my name is Gene Buckle and I'm trying to get my SpaceBall 5000 to work with SketchUp v8. I've tried both the free and commercial-trial versions with no luck.
I've got the latest drivers from 3DConnexion and I'm flat out of guesses as to what is wrong.
The device works great with Inventor 2009 as well as Google Earth.
Help!
Thanks folks.

They have to update their drivers to work specifically with SketchUp version 8. I think they might not have done this yet then? You might contact them directly and see when they plan on releasing new drivers for SU 8.

I have one of those, but it's serial so I can't hook it up anymore...
it would be kool to have it back and use it in sketchup.

I really need to be able to use it unfortunately. The wrist stress is pretty bad when I can only use a mouse.
Do you know if the driver for the SpacePilot supports SU 8? I snagged one of those from eBay last night for $50. They've also got a pile of the USB SpaceBall 5000s for pretty cheap.

I just found this for those that have the same problem I do:
Essentially, support for SU8 is going to be in the next driver release. The thread contains a link to the beta driver as well as work-arounds for both Windows and MacOS users.
