I understand that an ISO file is a "virtually burnt CD" (or what). Now without having a special software for it myself, what app would you guys recommend to quickly and easily access the content of such a file (and please, exclude Nero from the suggestions 😒 ).

I used to have something (about 3 HD crashes ago) but if I only need it at this frequency, I would really not invest in any pay programs really so possibly some free suggestions, please 😕

If the app could also "burn" ISO files, that's a bonus but not a necessary thing.

IZArc is freeware archiver that opens wide range of formats - iso included. For burning I use BurnAware free:

Daemon Tools will create a virtual drive to play this ISO file. As for burning I think DVD Decrypter or Fab will do it. You could check Afterdawn.com for lots of info and tuts and even free software that would do all of the above.

Dedmin beat me to it. I'll share anyway

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp 📖

Thanks guys, yes, dedmin beat you so by now I have already installed IZArc. Looks like a useful little app with lots of archiving options / file types.

I'll look into the other ones once I successfully downloaded this ISO and installed the program.

              Hi,

i use a virtual cd/dvd drive for looking into the iso file (Virtual Clone Drive). For burning the iso files i use IMGBurn. Both are free.

Well, I still have 46 minutes left (of this 2.2 Gb ISO file) so I have time to play around with those other apps.
                😄

Thanks KH for these other tips, too. 👍

For the case you already have 7zip, it would be already enough to have a look into ISOs (but can't modify or write them).

CDBurnerXP is free and can burn ISO files.

And yes, 7-zip (also free) can see inside ISO files and can also "unpack" them. As a bonus, it can also open .rar files without any need for WinRAR.

WinIso is a good one and also Daemon Tools lite is good for that as well...

Unzip and run normally, you do not need any fancy app.
