I have not posted in a while. I feel like I am getting a bit better at using Twilight although I still prefer straight up SU output. Here is a recent effort using Twilight Render. When I see all the beautiful images some of you produce I wonder how you found time to learn the software. It's all I can do to get straight Sketchup output done in time. Oh well have a look and as always your comments are welcome.

very good, phil. you should be proud of yourself. what you achieved is more than enough to show your work to a client.

        I like it, nice design.
Phil did you model the house also?

Dylan. Yep I modeled the house too. It's an existing house though so I did not design it. Just the deck and the doors and windows into the sun room behind the deck.

here is a slideshow of the images mostly straight from Sketchup:

            Phil,

That is a really nice looking render, and a serious deck too. Realism makes you feel you could walk right into the picture.

I really like your website SU slide show, which I suppose you post for your client's use. You really provide a lot service, though I wonder at the time you must put in. With all the detailing, specification, and structural issues special to decks, I often find myself turning the projects down--knowing the client won't want to pay what it takes for "just" a deck, in contrast for house plans. However decks (and pergolas etc.) are served best by 3D depiction. 2D doesn't show them well.

            Good work.

Peter the client is a friend so I tend to just look at these projects as marketing efforts. In other words I will put in extra effort and time to get images that can be used for my own marketing as well as for use in describing the project to the clients and the contractor.

Brilliant image Phil. You should be very proud of that render - i would be completely over the moon if I produced that level of quality. 👍
