Gee this sounds like a plan, Pete!! I just need to wait for confirmation of registration before trying to book my 'half way around the world' flights. Just need to jag a flight sale and I'm there.....

Is that not automatic when confirming?
I got this when confirming (just first paragraph)

Thank you for your application to the Google 3D Basecamp! Your registration has been accepted and you can move forward with making your travel arrangements.

Andrew, I also did not get a confirmation so emailed back to John Bacus and got the reply that as first rounders, we did not need a confirmation (however would have been better maybe so that we need not worry).
Hey, we can always sneak you in!
-
Well, I am checking out flights and it looks like I'd have to take all Tuesday off work to get out there in time for a Tuesday dinner. So I think I might miss the pre-launch party
But Day 1 everything concludes at 4:30 and there is no after conference events planned. So maybe we can do another group outing if anyone is interested. I think I'll be at the Best Western also.

I am leaving on the Saturday so I will be available to party on Friday TOOOOO!
But I will be staying in Denver with a friend so maybe I should get a car.
Any of you guys remember Ray Brown from the old forum and from time to time on this one? I nominated him and he is coming as well and he too is leaving on Saturday.
Can't wait!
Don't want to take all the credit but Mario from Quebec is one of my babies too. Good on me.
I have about 6 invites left so contact me if you are serious and I can use them wisely. -
Chris, I think that sounds good.

Now I just need to get lucky with flights.......

Hum ... No event after 4:30. But I understand that all meals are provided. So maybe we have a diner gathering then, no ?
Anyway I would indeed like to be part of that outgoing on day 1.
Does staying at Best Western involve taxi riding to the meetings ? -

Does staying at Best Western involve taxi riding to the meetings ?Best Western just a few blocks away from Google. Downtown 10-15 blocks away, easy walk or short bus ride. RTD also has a bus that goes to/from Boulder.

Can I take my bike on the plane? That would be nice to have my bike there with me

Unless you just really have to have your bike, rental would probably cost less than the fee to bring it on the plane, plus the hassle to bring it. FullCycle is about 6-7 blocks from Google.

Dave look at the event website, it says:

Location & Transportation: The event will be held at 26th Street and Walnut.
Which means the Best Western is one block away from event.

Pete, you thought your hotel was just one block away in Mountin View as well until we had to send a whole expedition after you...
-
Sorry,
Best Western is block away from Google.
Downtown (restaurants bars, shops, etc) 10-15 blocks away -

It was, but if you remember they did a last minute change, I ended up in Cupertino (sp) but with the free limo service I was not complaining.
I think Mike still has video of an inebriated limo expedition.

Never mind, he has never managed to share any of those videos (I have not seen myself either - not as if I minded...)

I'll be in attendance at this year's Basecamp too. I'm really looking forward to seeing my old sketchup friends and meeting new ones.
Is the Best Western where others are planning to stay? From the previous two basecamps I've learned it is desirable to stay where many others are staying -- it just makes it easier to stay connected.
Regards, Ross

Great to hear from you Ross. And glad you will be there. From what I have heard most are staying at the Best Western yes. At least me and a few other people I have been in contact with.
-
