      hi,

is there a plugin which can cut a sketchup model in different slices/disks from up till down. For example you have a helmet like sketchup model which is 30cm tall and you have paper or something else of 5mm thickness...so you select the model and then the plugin...you type the thickness of your slices in..so 5mm and the plugin cuts the model in 50 pieces. Now you can print the top views of the seperate parts on paper..glue it on something..cut it out and stick the parts together. πŸ‘

I hope you know what I mean. πŸ˜„

      Would be really cool.Thanks!!

        Hi Stonebreaker,

That would be TIG's "Slicer.rb". Download it from here:

I dunno, I don't use it. Does it create separate groups from the slices?

If so, right click on a group, "Make component..." then right click again and "Save as..." or "Save component..." or similar from the context menu. It will save the slice as a separate skp file then.

TIG is around here so he might chime in with suggestions. I'll edit the subject of your topic to attract his attention if you don't mind.

Yes, it creates seperate groups for every slice.

It would be cool if you could type in the measurement of your paper and the tool set the slices on it and export it as an image, so you can print it easliy.

Well, if you "save (the components) as...", you can then print them into scale one by one later!

Slicer exports the slices as individual groups, the 'lay flat' option makes copies of these flattened onto the ground spaced apart by an entered amount, set in a logical h/w arrangement and numbered to match the original order, and these are also grouped.
You can adjust where these are by editing the group and of course make plan views of each as desired as scene-tabs ? Then export them as jpegs using once of the batch image exporter tools available...
