[Talk] Plugins Index
-
When you add the [Plugin] tag to a topic, it will automatically be added to the list when Jim updates it next time (or so I believe at least).

would be a good idea to add a list of 10 most viewed plugins? or the 10 most downloaded plugins?
That would a good idea. But as Rich says, the download count is reset whenever a new version is uploaded.
The index is generated automatically by "scraping" the Plugins Forum for [Plugins] posts. Only the first post of each topic is read, and only the most recent few pages are scanned to keep the load down on the servers. In order to keep the download count current, I'd need scan the entire forum every time.

What do you have to do to get a plugin added to this index?
Upload you plugin to the Plugins Forum, and begin the topic title with the [Plugin] tag. The topic will get picked up by the scraper within a few days. (I can also run it on request - it's only a few clicks.) Check the last update - I had ran an update just before you asked, so Selection Manager is now indexed.

Hi,
I've even taken the trouble to put all sources known to me (SketchUcation, Smustard, RLD and Jim's SketchUp [Plugins] Blog) in a Word table together. Likewise with the corresponding Links and authors. In the table, the search is easier by alphabet or Authors.

Added an "Updated Plugins" feature - make any change to the title of your first post (date or version for example) and the script will notice the different, and list the plugin in the Updated section.

Would it be possible to search for an index entry?

Yes, it could fairly easily. All you need to do is to standardize the format and get authors to use it.

i have so many problem and does anyone encounter this?
-
Vray plugins. when i load some of the plugins tool that i've download here conflecting the vray tool it never run the render tool.
-
what is particular tools always use by most or expert in using the sketch up. coz i know theres a plug ins here conflecting each other
-
when i try to load to the other computer theres an error in tool menus all tools that i've been load there's some tool that created an error.
-
-
Best would be to post these errors in the respective plugins' topics. This is just an auto-generated index (actually, should be locked).

Especially this. I think it is TT's Vray plugin...

This is rather vague. Which plugins are conflicting? (yes, there can be conflicts...)

Then I would suggest Jim create a new locked Index thread.
And then THIS thread becomes titled: [talk] Plugins Index

thank you gaieus for the immediate response.

thank you gaieus for the immediate response.
but what happenned to my freedo plugins it automatically deleted when i load the matchbox plugins.
sorry i have so many question.
-
The 'matchbox' plugin is known to overwrite built-in class methods and for it's flakiness and so is not 'recommended', BUT if you use it then it's at your own risk, as it will probably mess up other tools - as you have found out.
If you have to use it then rename it 'matchbox.rb.txt' so it doesn't auto-load, then when you have an overwhelming desire to use it open the Window > Ruby Console and type in
load 'matchbox.rb.txt'
- it will load and you can use it BUT other tools will probably break! Restart to run without it loaded again...There are alternatives to using it so I strongly recommend you think about these instead...
SketchyPhysics is also know to mess with a few scripts [Mirror/2Dtools-Fillet] but there are workarounds with those.
So, only load scripts you really need - having hundreds installed will slow the SKP's opening and can cause [very rare] clashes as you've found out !
-
Jim has now tweaked the plugin index and now it's possible to link/jump to each author's listing. Here is ThomThom for instance - notice the anchor part of the link at the end:
#thomthom
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=28782#thomthom -
How can one make anchors in posts?
-
Sorry... but that #thomthom link doesn't jump anywhere*** [FireFox7] it stays jumps to the start of this very thread ???
I still don't see why we need these 'anchors' other than in this specific context.
You can link to any individual post by getting its own address off the small rectangle under the main-title to the left, rather than linking to the thread itself which doesn't help when you are within a thread OR the thread is very long! ...
For example this one links to my post four or so back on 20110803 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=346058#p346058 or Rich's post in this thread on 20110708 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=340857#p340857 etc etc...TOO CLARIFY...
EDIT: This links to thomthom's list in the Plugins Index http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=250026#thomthom [HOORAY!]
***This links to the 'Plugins Index' post#1 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=250026#p250026 UNLIKE the http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=250026 link in the red-button which jumps to the start of that page - which if you use reverse chronological order like I do is NOT the post needed...
***Then the anchored links within that - 'from the plugins by name' to 'author-list' - DO work well - so I'm not sure what's wrong with that link-Gaieii - it's just wrong??

Well, to me, this link takes me to the list of TT's plugins:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=28782#thomthom
and this one to your (TIG's) plugins:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=28782#TIGNow in addition to this, the names there are also links (with the same anchor tag) so after you went there and click again, of course it will not move. But scroll away and click on an author's name again and it should "jump" there.
I am not saying it is super-useful and we could not live without it - it's just a nice addition I could finally figure out how to create. And please, don't sadden me; I finally find myself useful!
-
Both the links that Gaieus just posted go back to this very page for me
The links I posted in my edit thread here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=349570#p349570 do work however...The links/anchors work fine it's just your posted links are wrong - Csaba look at the thread id it's this one ???
For example this is mine link http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=250026#TIG -
OK so it seems it's better to post with the post number (P=) rather than the topic number (T=).
So this would work (I know you have some unusual display order setting...)?
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=250026#thomthom(I think that's what Dan was trying to explain to me, too...)
-
That new link to thomthom's list now works [for me at least]!
At last it works!
You can just right-click over the anchor-link e.g. 'TIG' in the original post and get the link - it copies the full-code that you can then use - no need to worry about constructing it - and it links to the anchor itself within the post too...
