This is an older type... Wellhead. (again, thanks to Ken πŸ‘ )

The first pic is the original that I am using as a guide. I have no dimensions to work with except that it's approx. 15-20ft tall so I am eyeballing the heck out of this thing. Some of you with sharp eyes will notice a lot of proportions are off and some details are missing. Some of them are going to stay that way. πŸ˜†

What I'm learning the most on this exercise is work flow. And boy, am I learning a lot. (but grammar isn't one of them πŸ˜† ) I would like to give credit to http://www.martinrinehart.com/models/tutorial/tutorial_toc.html for really helping me to understand work flow better.

The following pictures are the progress.

            Almost done.

How do I get rid of the lines on top of the gas cylinder? (right hand side of the assembly)

Not sure what you are using for a model, but I don't see how one could drill through this BOP. And that is the sole purpose of a BOP, to control a well, but still allow drilling though the shut-off valves and the shears.

Look to me a like a sub sea well head.

I'll go with that. I haven't been able to get anyone to tell me the difference and only got a vague description form my oilfield friends. I didn't have the picture to show them at the time.

There was also no description of the picture (seriously) when I downloaded it.

                Well head? Works for me!

I looked at my post, forgot to tell you I liked the model. You have done a good job.

I do a lot of modeling for offshore companies.

You can get rid of the lines, by using the eraser and the control key to hide the lines.

You can go to this web site and watch as an ROV cuts the riser off the BOP.

Thanks NOLA. I wanted to add that I have about 30 hours on this one, which was a huge improvement over my first post here, which took me almost 80 hours.

                                          Still learning. πŸ˜„
