this looks pretty cool . . .
Google TV -
Looks cool, I wonder if it'll support Piratebay
TBH though, I wish they'd put a little more time into meeting the demands that users of a certain other Google-app have

SU's hardly an untapped mine of advertising revenue, though.
And i wouldnt be surprised if some enterprising developers got a torrent client working on the platform, because as i understand it it's basically android.

Yeah, these are early days, great to see Google getting it's toes wet with this.
I was watching a program the other day (not sure if it was a British or Ozzie channel) that was talking about what TV would be like in 10 years from now and they had it with full Internet, netflix style TV as well as live local and national content. The TV also had video so one could do conference calls and Video phone calling. It all looked cool but who knows what will happen as there are just too many power players out there that will try block any changes to the status quo.
I personally would like to see a streaming TV without the need to subscribe to a cable or satellite provider. -
Looks good and seems reasonable. How it's implemented will dictate it's successfulness.
Lets hope it's better applied than Wave/Buzz. Remember those?

Ching-ching!! hear those advertising dollars?, that other app you have has no where near as many advertising opportunities and Google is all about the bucks mate.

I gave up my satellite/cable tv a long time ago and just have a box connected to the tv with internet access. It is all free (well, I pay $9 a month for Netflix). I can get 90% of the shows I really want to watch via one of these programs (Hulu, Fancast, or the individual TV network URL's)
If you don't mind watching your shows a day or two late, then this is for you. HOWEVER, if you like your sports, this is NOT for you because most sports are not rebroadcast. In that case, I am grabbing the HD channels from a couple of TV stations in the area.
So, I'm not sure what is the difference between that and Google TV is.

Gotta agree Netflix is the best $9 I spend a month, the increasing amount of good streaming content alone is worth the price.
I stream it using an xbox and so far it's been great.
