Why only one active cut section per context?

Just curious, as it would be so useful to be able to have more. Too useful for humanoid hands?

        Hi Brooke, hi folks.

Yes, but you can have more than one context in a model, hence, you can have more than one active cutting plane in a model.

For example, add one cutting plane. Select it with the model then make a group with the selection. You can now add another cutting plane. Of course, you can repeat this procedure as often as you want. Components works the same as group with this trick.

See attached SU file for ideas.

Yes, thanks, Jean. I presumed cutting planes within group or component contexts only worked within those contexts, and thus not what I'm hoping for.

(What are those things flying in your avatar? Kites, jets, alien ships, virtual batplanes?)

            Hi Brooke, hi folks.

I should have read your Subject more closely, you wrote very precisely : Why one plane per context.

To this question, I don't have an answer.

As for my avatar, these are dual lines stunt kites (acrobatic kites). The trick is that I fly three at the same time, using a total of 6 lines. It may seems impossible since a normal human being has 2 hands but there are tricks that allows one to do that. Tricks and a lot of practice πŸ˜‰

OK, for those who would like to try it, here is the trick:

I control 2 kites with my 2 hands, one kite per hand. The third one is controlled with my waist. To control the 2 lines of one kite with one hand, I attach one line at each end of a stick that measure about 15 inches. A rotation of the wrist from side to side allows the control of the kite. The two lines of the kite controlled with the waist is attached on each side of my belt. Add a few hundreds of hours and you shall be able to do that. Beware, in high winds (20 to 30 MPH), these large kites (7 to 8 feet wingspan) can pull a lot. However, in my avatar, these are super ultra light kites that allow me to fly in winds from 1 to 5 MPH. There is barely any pull with such low wind.

            Just ideas.

              Thanks, Jean.

3 kites sounds like a lot of fun for the stimulus-needy; with a bigger bird, just one, something similar is called kite sailing. I'd like to see you manage three in a stiff breeze. A sunny day...
