Newbie Plugin Question

Hi,
I'm doing a scene using a lot of components, i remember a plug-in that help to reduce the geometry of the component or something like that(hide), I used hide geometry but that texture remaining is annoying.
Any suggestion or recommendation?, sorry if this question is dummy but Im a shiny newbie...
