      Hi all!
Having a bit of a heart ache with CAD. I have a CAD plan that has gradients and a street map.
I turned the contours into sandbox terrain with relatively little difficulty.
However, when I try to drape the street map over the terrain sketchup crashes. And I know what some of you are thinking, "drape a smaller area over the terrain then!" well, I tried that and it still crashes, even with one of the sub groups selected it crashes, with a single line selected it works... but seriously... I can't live my life individually draping lines onto terrain... If anyone has any anecdotes, advice etc... I'd be appreciative. 🎉

Wasn't able to upload the file, so I put it on rapidshare:

why don't you consider converting your cad plan into a bitmap or raster image and use that to drape into your sketchup terrain. sketchup imports dwg files with lines segmented (broken at every intersection). that many edges could possibly be the reason why sketchup crashes when using the drape tool.

I work with similar models in the landscaping industry,
What works for me is to have your terrain that you created with your sandbox tool (make sure its exploded - not a group)
Then make your road a group, edit the group and use your pull tool and pull your road up past and through your terrain.
Then exit out of your group and select both you terrain and road ground and then use the interest with selected tool.
          Hope this helps
