The only settings for the scroll wheel are the number of lines scrolled for each notch of rotation, and the number of characters to move when tilted. And again, nothing has changed in my XP settings, so since it was working before, I don't understand why it's not working now. The scroll wheel click function is working fine by itself--I can orbit as usual, it's only when I want the combo function of right click and scroll click that it only does the scroll click portion. Right click is also otherwise working normally in sketchup and everywhere else. It brings up the context menus as expected. Any other ideas?

Ha! Here I've been saying it's rightclick and scroll click, but it's left click and scroll click--but to no avail, it's still not working!

this is the url to the help section that describes this feature, but I guess it's good to know this issue is not unique to me. I'd sure like to know why the change. I wonder if it is a bug or maybe there is a setting that can be used to restore the previous setting.

Yea - I can't do that with left + middle click either. I even struggle to shuffle my fingers to perform that action... ๐Ÿ˜•

Yes, it is awkward, I don't use it much, but it's faster for me than any of the keyboard options. Usually I just zoom out and orbit and then zoom back in, but pan is a better choice in some situations. I'll survive if this feature has been discontinued, but I would like to know if it's officially gone or if this is just an accident. Is there someone we can forward this to in order to find out?

I always use the left-click/middle mouse combo, and its still working for me.

I had the same issue happen with several Dell machines. Dell's a lot of times have that "Control Point" software installed. For some reason, they re-map all the buttons through their app, it overides the default windows settings. I messed around with the dell controlpoint and I couldn't get the pan option to work. I ended up just closing and removing the application, and all was well in Sketchup.

Perhaps you have a dell, or some other mouse software or extension that is running that is overriding your settings....

d12dozer/Marcus, are you using 7.1? Or is your profile correct when it ways ver. 7? As far as I know this feature was working fine until I went to 7.1.

Eric, Neither machine I'm using is a Dell, and since I'm getting the same behavior on two very different computers, one an IBM thinkpad notebook running XPpro and one a no name desktop running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit I'm pretty sure it's not a driver issue, both are using whatever driver windows installs when I plug in the mouse dongle (it's a wireless mouse). Also, since this mouse command was working with the same mouse on the XP machine just a little while back and I've not made any changes to the mouse driver I find myself suspecting the one thing that has changed--sketchup 7.1. If I'm understanding thomthom correctly, I'm not the only one with this issue. I did install logitech's driver for this mouse on the desktop, but uninstalled it again when I discovered it didn't offer any additional functionality that I cared about.

Can anyone else confirm that this is or isn't working in sketchup 7.1?

                        Thanks,
Well now I'm definitely confused. I guess I can plug in the ps2 mouse and see if I get anything different.
Okay, this is embarrassing--got it working, I think all I was doing was the wrong sequence. Wheel first, left button second. Pardon me for the wild goose chase.

                          This combo works for me:
Release all buttons. Click middle button down (orbit) then the left mouse button gives you the Hand icon.

If you have the middle button down (orbit) and then push the left button down gives the Hand icon.

If you start with the left down and then press the middle you get the Orbit.

This is on my Mac, YMV.

I created Dilbertville, sorry about that...
