Rendering Contest - Great Prizes - IRender nXt
-
Hmmm? I just downloaded it the IRender nXt install and it worked OK.
The one I downloaded had this name and size:
84,479,002 IRender_3_JB11nxt.zip
However, we changed the download file about 7:30 AM Mountain time, so this gets confusing.
Also, sometimes IE refuses to download something a second time unless you delete the first download.
So try again if you will.

Thanks Al for the info - I hope it will get on the track now!
Cool prizes BTW.

All thanks to SCF user advice on this thread:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=179&t=25369
We didn't use the advice to offer an iPad. However we are feverishly working on an iPad application.
(I can't divulge what it is until it is ready) -

Rich pulled the JB11 version this morning, (just after I downloaded it I guess), and replaced it with the JB02 version. (Which is still OK for the contest). He is uploading a new version now, but we are going to test the download before we put it on the download page.
The main difference is that the JB12 version, when it is working properly, extends the free trial until Mar 15th to give people a chance to participate in the contest.

In an attempt to pull this thread back on track - more about the contest - and less about download concerns, here are some contest tips I just added to the contest page on our web site:
Tips
-
Everyone's first thought will be an outdoor building, surrounded by trees and sky. Try to think up some unique approaches.
-
Material Libraries - check out some of the polished and brushed metal materials.
-
Arroway Materials - these have bump and reflection highlight maps build in. Bumps work best if some oblique lighting is applied to the surface.
-
Plants - the library contain premade plants. These could be used indoors or outdoors.
-
HDRi Skies - you can also get other free HDRi images from the web. In addition to HDRi skies, you can use HDRi buildings interiors for lighting and background of interior scenes.
-
RPC Objects - in addition the the sample RPC objects included in the IRender nXt release, Archvision has free demonstration objects on their we site and/or a 30 day free trial of all RPC objects. (We are hoping that some entries will use something different than Penny and the Volkswagen that we always use for RPC samples.)

I think I'm quickly running out of time to try it out.
If you need a little more time, we will offer a 7 day extension to anyone who requests it. You need to request an extension before March 16th, so we will know that there are more entries coming.

Can you use the nXtimage editor or will that be considered post processing
The lighting channels, fog, DOF, etc. will be OK.
Just so you aren't able to paste a photograph on top of the rendering.
And you may have to tell us what you did, because we need to be able to verify that the rendering was created with IRender nXt.

"Spyder 3 Pro" is not a mouse...
It's a device to calibrate screens...

Oops - I stand corrected.
I couldn't imagine how a mouse at $139.00 could be worth it (Solo had recommended it). Now that I know what it is, maybe I'll get one for myself!
-
It's an awesome gizmo for getting your screens calibrated right, I used a friends one and now gotta get me one too as I have so many different monitors and need to get them all to one standard.
-
Just take the model you submitted last year - put a tree on the roof and some Arroway wood on doors of the car, and maybe it will win this year.
