Drop items into a box
-
Hi all,
I am looking to create a box full of spray paint cans which have been randomly thrown in. I dont need to see the animation the cans just need to be in the box as if just thrown in.
There needs to be a hundred or so cans and it needs to look pretty random.I asked this on the newbie forum and i was pointed to the sketchyphysics plug. Is this the best way to do this?
I have been using the sketchyphysics plugin, but everytime i run an animation almost everything in my model starts to fall. I have looked at some tutorials, but they dont really cover what i am looking to do.
I have created all the objetcs, i just need them arranegd in a way that looks like they were thrown into the box.If anyone has any thoughts, Id love the help!!
Thanks,

You can place them manually, being careful to make it look random.
Or use Sketchyphysics. Its a great plugin. Maybe make the box with cans in a separate model. And set it up so that the box does not faill, just the cans do. Then once you get it looking good, then save the model and import it into your main model as a component.
That might help? Maybe someone knows better how to actually set the box so that it does not fall.

i believe the procedure is to show UI (of sketchyphysics), select each object you want to stay stationary (one at a time), and check the staticmesh checkbox.

An open box I guess: You can build it with the default 3d shapes of sketchyphysics (boxes), one box for the base, and four boxes more for the walls. Then in UI all of them should be checked STATIC, and even the base STATICMESH too, just in case.
Then for the can, use the default cylinder, and whe right-clicking on it: sketchyphysics >> shape >> cylinder. Then multi-copy that can.
Press the play, when it's done you can save the model in skp and changes will be saved. If you already had built all the objects before, you can edit each group, and "introduce" inside of them the objects I explained above, and then hide them. SKetchyphysics will still recognise them.
