Terrain modelling
-
Hi
I have been trying to use sketchup for modelling a terrain. I successfully imported the cad drawing of the contours into sketchup. The grid size in cad was 5M x 5M. I managed to get it as 500 cm x 500 cm. because I usually use centimetres for my sketchup models. The contour interval is given as 1M. The area of the plot is 1.56 Acres. My problem is that after exploding the imported drawing and deleting the unwanted details,I applied the "simplify contour" plugin and the contours just disappeared. I thought that this may be due to presence of a number of gaps in the contours. So I tried a portion in the lower part where there were no discontinuities. Then also the contours disappeared. I also tried changing the angle. I am posting a link to download the file from a free file sharing service.
http://rapidshare.com/files/347716544/contour_trial1.skp.htmlI shall be glad if you could view the file and help me to figure out the cause of this problem.
Thank you -
Instead of rapidshare, why not upload the model directly here or use the SketchUp 3D Warehouse and then provide a link? I for one shy away from rapidshare because it is hit or miss with downloading on the free account.

I can't even access it rapdishare, it is blocked here.
But I would like to see the model. I have not seen the simplify contours plugin completely erase all lines. So I wouln't mind checking it out to see what is going wrong. Thanks,

I tried to upload the file here and also at the 3D warehouse. But it is taking a lot of time and also I cannot be sure if it is fully uploading or not mainly because there is no progress bar showing the progress of upload. so I am posting a new link. http://www.4shared.com/file/218831844/7b0b0912/contour_trial1.html I hope this will work.
Thankyou.
