LayOut Construction Drawing Question

I am trying to draw a set of construction drawings for a timber frame barn I have drawn in Sketch UP. The issue I am having is getting so that I can draw a detail of a typical connection. I want LayOut to show dashed lines for parts of the detail that are inside, i.e. a tenon in a mortise and tenon joint. I have all of the details drawn in SketchUp and want it to transfer to LayOut. I have tried fussing with different styles in LayOut and have had no luck. I also have tried to change the lines I want to show as dashed in Sketch Up. No luck there either. Anyone got any advice?

Just an idea as i havent tried it, but you could hide the lines you want to appear dashed in sketchup, then go view->hidden lines. That way they should show up as dashed lines in layout. It will also show up the lines that make up cylinders and curved surfaces, though, so not an ideal solution.

You can actually edit your SU lines if you

turn vector or hybrid rendering on (the default is raster)*
then explode the SU drawing in LO - then the model will act like deeply nested groups in SU so you need to double click to edit until you can select the individual set of edges.

Note that this (exploding) is a destructive and irreversible operation which will ultimately beak the linkage between that particular SU viewport in LO and the embedded skp file so only do this when you know you are ready with the modelling phase.
Of course, you can always delete just that exploded viewport and insert the skp file again - the model itself won't be affected this way.

if you explode it while raster rendering is on, it will become an image that you can open/edit in an external application and it will instantly reload upon saving.
