How to import Soundtracks to iTunes
-
I just imported a soundtrack ("Enchanted") into itunes. It has split it into 5 different "albums" by artist. Even when I sort my playlist by album, it refuses to put the entire album together. It still maintains it separately, even though I'm not sorting by artist.
But another question I have, is there a way to force an album to stick together as an album even when I am sorting by artist? Can I force it to sort by album?
I see many little settings for that kind of stuff, but so far none of it is working. I'm not sure if its because I'm doing it wrong, or if it has to do with how the album is not considering itself as a single album.
So, any thoughts on this? Is it just not possible to get an album to stick together as a single album if it lists various composers and artists?

PS yes this has happened on virtually every soundtrack/compilation I've imported. I ended up erasing much of the data from these previous CD's so that I could get them to group together how I want. And I also have turned on the grouping compilations option in the advanced preferences. So far nothing seem to make it work how I think it should.....

Aha, I think I finally found it. There was yet another tab I had not looked on that gave me the option to consider the tracks as part of a compilation. I think that has more or less solved it. We'll see if it works as well as I hope it did.

Chris, could you show a screenshot of that tab. I was wondering this too but did not want to ask.

Hi,
when I import soundtracks or compilations from Cd before I do the importing process I select all the tracks(ctrl+a) then right click selection and choose 'get info'. This allows you to batch rename artist/album/year/genre etc or as Chris states turn an album into a compilation(check box)
after it's imported to your library you can add the album cover by right clicking sleeve and choosing 'get artwork'
I always import at 320kbps AAC if it's for iPod as it provides best sound quality in comparison size. Apple Lossless gives great results but album size is bloated and cross platform compatibilty is reduced

Yeah, I'll do it when I get home tonight. For the most part it seemed to work and now the songs are organized how I think is most logical for me. It was not, however, an entirely logical process to figure it out.
So give me a few hours and I'll post it tonight PST.
