Educational Version of SketchUp?
-
Hi guys,
I am just after a bit of advice re: the education version of Sketchup PRO.
I am currently (for fun) studying towards a Certificate in Lifelong Learning in Local History at York University. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this would make me eligible for the educational price of SketchUp Pro. I have a NUS card and university email address (@york.ac.uk) but am unsure if the course is 'accreddited enough' for me to qualify.....
I don't have an .edu email address so have to go through a re-seller, I have had a quick look at these and it's a bit confusing: http://www.academicsuperstore.com/eligibility/college
Any advice, greatly appreciated.

Hi Lee,
Since you are not located in the US-Canada, you would need to go through a reseller anyway. Only these resellers "know" how and under what condition they provide student licenses so check them out for sure.
Note however that if you buy your license from a reseller, you will "life long" get stuck with him - i.e. once you want to upgrade your student license to a regular one or from one version to a new version etc. And they are regularly not very speedy to make those changes with versions so for some people it sometimes takes month to finally be able to upgrade.
I know it sucks but imagine we do not even have a reseller here - so no student, no educator and no lab licenses for Hungary. Google told they "bulk sold" the licensing rights for "Eastern Europe" (note that I live in Middle Europe) to a company a year ago. Haven't heard of them ever since.

Lee, I can recommend Cadsoftsolutions in Cambridge, as a good UK-based SketchUp reseller. You need to talk with Nick, who will also provide you with support, although I would also recommend Aidan Chopra's brilliant SU for Dummies book and YouTube tutorials too.
