Sketchup for Structural Packaging Design
-
Hello all.
New to the forum and new to Sketchup. I am pretty excited about what I have been able to accomplish so far. I was wondering if any of you have used Sketchup for packaging design. I have been working with ArtiosCAD for a few years designing packaging and displays out of corrugated paper. Specifically I would like to be able to write scripts to create drawings of some often used designs based on length, width and depth. Is it possible to create a material in Sketchup of a particular thickness that will fold to certain tolerances? I have little programming experience but am a motivated student. Is this something that has been done in Sketchup? Is there an easier way to fold along a line than with the rotate tool? I have made this work but ran into some problems.
Thanks

Writing scripts is not often discussed in the newbie forum. But if you are the sort who jumps into the deep end of the pool to learn to swim start at Chapter 11.
