      Hi everybody,

      Sorry for my bad english,

I have a problem with the weight of my first project.

The actual weight is 45Mo ; even I delete ALL of my objects inside the project, the weight of empty project is about 23Mo 😕

Have you an idea about this problem.

      Thx.

      Paul

You need to purge your model.

Right click and install this in your plugins folder, then you can purge your model of unneeded junk.

            Hi Paul, hi folks.

When you asked for Model Info --> Sattistic, watch the number that will change when you purge. You may see the number of components, layers, materials, etc. Look at what will change. Do a screen dump before and after to see what happened.

You may delete selectively by going to the relevant window. For example, doing a purge from the statistic will purge all. Doing it from the materials window will leave the components and the layers intact.

You may also purge unused styles, guides, guide points.

Try using as few segments as you can in circles and arcs. When these are combined with the "Follow me" Tool, they can generate huge amounts of geometry.

            Just ideas.

              thx for response Jean,

When I select Model Info --> Satistic and on my iMac I have Edges=410826

and the same project on my laptop with vista I have Edges=2255

On my laptop the project is very fluid but on the iMac is very slow (in SU Preferences,
unselect fast feedback and acceleration - I made the test)

why ? anyone have an idea ?

              thx again for your help

              paul

Make sure to check the "show nested components" box on each machine to get the proper edge count in statistics.

As for why it is good on one computer and why slow on another - that must be the specs.

What about processor speed and video subsystem on each?

                Gai...

Well, it should be (although the bigger the processor speed is, the faster SU runs).
However you gave your memory, not the video card specs.

Well, the video card brand in your iMac seems to be fine but maybe one with bigger memory would be better. If you have a look at the Hardware recommendations, it says 512 Mb or higher...

                          Comparing both purging methods:

                          1. model info\statistics\purge unused
                          2. TIG's plugin

It seams that number 1 gives better results than number 2 - file size is a bit smaller in a little insignificant test I did. On the other hand TIG's plugin gives more options in case there's something you want to save...
