      Hi,

I've been experimenting with Vray for a couple of weeks and seem to be getting the hang of interior and exterior shots, but haven't yet looks at creating montages. If I were doing a street scene montage with new light fixtures and railing, what's the favoured technique for casting shadows from these fixtures onto objects in the photograph? Would I have to simulate the shadows entirely in photoshop?

      Thanks,

      Paul

That would be the simplest way.

You can also try to additionally render a model version with white materials (clay render) and blend it over the photo parts in the photo montage.

Maybe some of the render gurus can share some experiences.
