Very interesting videos. I will have to review them again.

Thanks a lot !! Very usefull for me.

Very usefull for me to !
Thanks,

Tremendously useful for me
It seems like a good plugin to make the curves as a start for a soap-skin-bubble session.
Thanks Kirill! -
This is amazing and very very helpful, thank you very much for your generosity.
greetings

I'm concerned that the word "Smooth" is already "taken" in SketchUp... and usually applies to a specific type of edge, so if we could come up with a better name for this tool, it may avoid confusion.
may I suggest "Curve Toy" or "Curve Control" or "Squishy Curve" or "Marilyn Monroe" I don't know... something unique.
I agree. I like "Marilyn Monroe"
Well maybe "Geom Interpolation" (long, but close to what it really is).@chango70 said:
What do you do with the explanation lines? can you manipulate the geometry with those lines?
Unfortunately explanation lines are only to show, how intermediate vertices were modelled (lines are practically useless and there is no way to interact with them only to admire).
Actually it is necessary to implement 2 additional 'control lines' at the start and at the end of the initial opened curve to affect 1-st and last segment curvature (the same way as cubic spline). Closed curve does not need it.And another issue: current version does not 'remember' control points across sessions also (the same as 'ctrlpnts.rb'). I'm on my way to implement such functionality.
-
In the current version (1.2.) the command name to launch the plugin was renamed to "Geom Interpolation..." to avoid confusions with other commands.
And now script recalls control points after opening the file which contains curve. I'm going also to add interactive control points editing (the same way as in ctrlpnts.rb). -
Kirill, thank you for this plugin.
Several I watched your videos demonstrating it and then tried to use it. I must be missing something because you seem to be able to make it do things I can't. Could you give a little basic training?
I can get the curve alright after setting the control points out. After that, I select Edit Geom Interpolated Curve... If I click on the left arrow key I get some additional points but no lines joining them to the points on the curve. Also, if I click on a control point and try to drag it, nothing happens. If I click on a control point and let go of the button, the next click creates a new point away from the first point as if placing a guide point with the Tape Measure tool. Nothing I do will let me edit the curve.
I've tried following the messages displayed at the bottom of the screen but with no luck. Could you give some guidance? Thank you.

Dave,
I have tried this and find it a bit hit and miss to pick a control point. You have to move the select tool around a fair bit until a tool tip says "Guide point". You can click on this and the curve turns red and a message in the status bar says "Feel free to pick a c_point to interact with" then clicking on that point allows you to move the point and the line will follow.
-
Thanks Chris. I did see that deal with the curve turning red and the message "Fill{sic} free to pick..." but even then I can't move the control point.
-
Dave,
I don't know if it helps but here is a little video I made of using it.
-
I think it would be interesting to check out the video of 'crvsmth.rb' revival:

Finally I decided to reanimate this ancient 'scripture' and make its use more intuitive this time... So now it is adapted into modernized 'LSS Toolbar' infrastructure and its reincarnation name is 'Recursively Smoothed Curve' tool.
For now 'pre-alpha' version of 'LSS Toolbar' is available. Feel free to use it at your own risk.

This is just downright awesome

Actually update is still under construction, I was just excited about the way it works and decided to share current stage
BTW, I'm a huge fan of Kerkythea I use it very extensively and I'm very very happy with it!

Thankyou! How does one learn to use the tool (LSS toolbar)? I am just guessing and clicking and getting no results so far. Also the text fields are solid black.

I plan to make manuals after functionality update completion: there are 2 more tools are to be added in 'LSS Toolbar' and after their addition I'll start testing and documenting this plugin.
The reason, that 'LSS Toolbar' does not work on mac is that settings-dialog forms are not adapted yet for displaying by 'Safari' (default macOS browser, which SU uses to display web-dialog forms). I use pc at work and at home, so it'll be a bit tricky for me personally to make these dialog-forms work on mac too, but I'll try to do it anyway. -
Hi, kirill:
Your update video is very impressive. -

I also found the black input fields is a problem on the Mac end that users need to sort out for themselves. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=45382&hilit=black+dialog
But it's very impressive work!
