Imported images vs textures
-
I have been building 2d face me people with png files (imported as images, not textures) when it was brought to my attention that by using a texture, the component image could be bumped for greater realism. So I took one my 2d components, removed the existing image on the face, and replaced it with a texture. I had problems scaling, and aligning things up, but when I bumped, and rendered, the rendered image had better 3d effect. Problem is that the rendered colors now look washed out. I previously read some where that compressed images sometimes have problems with gamma correction when they are rendered, so I atempted to adjust the texture's gamma setting prior to rendering. No luck. Anyone with advice, or suggestions?

Which render engine are you using?

IDX Renditioner. Their engine is lightworks.

sounds similar to mismatched color profiles..
if a picture is saved in adobe98 (for example) and then viewed in a browser that can't read profiles, the image will appear washed out.. this is why you should generally save all your web stuff in sRGB -- most browsers are displaying in sRGB (while others can read any profile.. safari being one)..anyway, try saving the texture with an sRGB profile (or sRGB IEC61966-2.1 if that option is available in your editing app)..
if need be, post the picture here and i can convert it for you.. -
Could you please post a "before and after"? I have an idea from my past experience with 3dsMAX.

No before, guess I inadvertantly wrote over. After below:

This looks like a problem of overexposure, not gamma. Try lowering the sun intensity.

Miguel, Helped a little. Guess before I can be sure, I must rebuild the component.
