Beware of Installing Snow Leopard if you used Sketchup
-
I recently installed Snow Leopard on 2 of my mac pros and have had nothing but problems. It now crashes Sketchup about 20 times a day(8 hour day). Its also crashing Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, all CS3 versions. The error happens most frequently when you try and save.

I'm encoutering similar (but not as extreme problems)
Everything (the SUpro - Layout connection and editing) was working fine
THEN installed Snow LeopardNOW Su works ok,
BUT when I "send to Layout" Layout opens for a template to be selected then crashes (closes) once it's selectedIn Layout, if I try to "edit 3d model" or "open with SU" again it crashes/closes. Other functions seem ok
So, any ideas - is it something to do with Snow Leopard? (only change I've made on my Mac)

I am a Bootcamp Mac user so I don't know much about Macos, but could it be that the new Snow OS (very 64 bit oriented )has trouble with 'older' 32 bit applications ?

Yes, i think the problem is on Apples side. Beta testers were reporting problems prior to release but they were quick to getting it out and so did not fix everything. I recommend waiting until they come out with fixes for these bugs before installing the software. Like you, I rarely had problems with Sketchup until i installed Snow Leopard.

Thanks for this advise. I have a new MacBook Pro 17" ordered and was waiting until now to collect as it could have Snow Leopard loaded but on reading this info I will stick live without it until all in reported 'good to go'.
I think Chris might have put his finger on the problem with reagrd to the 64bit!

I'm sure they will sort it out soon enough, at least I hope so as I recieved my copy today also, not yet installed, will do so later. I do not use my Mac for work so I should have no issues, I am pleased at the cheap price of this upgrade however.
About time Apple got 64bit support, now all those power Mac users can use more than 4GB ram.

I believe you can have more than 4gb with the existing Leopard system. The memory limitation in Mac OS based machines is driven by the memory controller, changing operating systems won't change that chip.

I'm hanging back a few weeks I think before installing Snow Leopard. Give Apple chance to come up with a few fixes.
