Real time render with real time camera matching!!
-
"LinceoVR 3.0 is the first software in the world which combines the features of Render Realtime for the Design Review and of Augmented Reality!"
Looks like the best of Both worlds, see the video in the official page:
I'll have to admit this is quite amazing but it looks more suited to product design, but it says it's great for architecture too for matching the project with the real world (and a quick render of course).
Oh! and it says the student version is free!!

Looks like competition for Hypershot.
I can't imagine it being used for architecture as it seems to have that typical studio look.
Way too expensive for any architecture office I think. -
Are the images ray-traced? Couldn't tell by reading the product's site.

I was looking at their gallery and the outcome of the renders look very cool... So it is a 3D software plugin only for Rhino and 3ds Max? no word about SU? Though it really seems compromising as a rendering software

Raytracke will be available from next upgrade in september, right now linoceVR has realtime render, HDRI and Openexr lighting, shadows, ambient occlusion shadows, realtime animation etc etc.
There also are rhino version and standard version, which are suitable for most of the activities and they cost less than the others.
LinceoVR is not really in competition with Hypershot, hypershot is an interactive reaytracer, their claim is your 3d camera (a quick way to create outstanding raytraced shhots), LinceoVR is a design review software, a tool to allow designers architects, to inspect their creation in realtime, check different colors, matials, lighting conditions and benchmark it with different version in the real world, it is a braistorming, presentation tool, and a good way to have very good quality images, and video in zero time. May be LinceoVR will compete with hypershop when will be released raytracing extension.

Lowering prices is often a way to roll to new target markets, from early adopter and hi-end market (technology enthusiast) versus wider market.
Previous LinceoVR prices was not surely right for DCC, architectural cad users.
Autodesk applied the same business model with his product showcase; they lowered prices at 1/8 of the original price.Andrea

I dunno...Autodesk has become to big and they have the ability to buy themselves out of any stalemate.
They own pretty much all the big names in the CG industry like Max, maya, XSI, flint, Flame, Alias etc. but that being said the world is a changing place, take Microsoft for example, they are aiming at creating the best search engine and Google has it's sights on the best Operating system
