Creating Shadows!
-
Hello everybody, hope all is well. Can I add another light source besides the sun? If so how do I do it. I need more shadows and I searched and searched and can't figure it out. I am sure it is very easy just need some guidance.
Thank you! -
Hi Todd,
NOT in SketchUp. There's only one light source, the Sun.
You can use external applications to render your SU model / scene in a more "photo-realistic" way (many works inside SU while others have exporters - some are free, others cost more or less money). I'd suggest to start with some of the simpler apps (and especially which works inside SU and which have trial versions so you can decide which direction to take).
I know I haven't said much and didn't show any possible direction but I'm sure others will chime in and make suggestions.

If it's just more sun/shadows you want, try adjusting the sliders for the shadow color if you haven't already.
Kerkethea(a free download) has a sketchup plugin and some simple basic components that are set to emit light. It does a great job a rendering my simple images.

You can also change the location. Click Window, then Model Information, then Location. select a city with higher or lower latitude, or put in your own. This will change the angle of the shadows more than you can with the sliders alone.
