i've been using sketchup for over a year and each week I'm getting a bit better.
From the models I've posted on the 3dwarehouse, I notice more duplicates posted from other users. I understand and agree with the ability to download a model and call it your own, but I think a nice addition would be for a user to list the % of their own original models on the begging of the users model page(s). At the same time, have a running total of members votes.
pixelmonkey380's claim of original models = 85%
3dwarehouse members claims of original models posted by pixelmonkey380 = 85%
pixelmonkey380 overall model stars = 4.79 stars out of 5
total models posted = 53
models with rating = 19would anyone else like to see this?

I've had this happen as well - I don't know what the solution is, I usually just leave a snarky comment about giving credit to the creator on the upload they make.

Thing about 3D Warehouse is that by uploading it you consent to it being modified and used. I think it’s in the terms and conditions. Can't be sure though. One way to deter people from doing it is to explode everything so it is a pain to manipulate.

If you don't want people to download and use your model to integrate it into theirs, you have two choices;
- don't upload it to the Warehouse
- don't allow people to download it (this can be set in the "Share" settings)
Otherwise the whole purpose of the Warehouse is to share models with others to freely download/modify/use etc. so it is as simple as that; if you don't like these terms, don't use the Warehouse. Don't tell you were not warned before because you have (supposedly read and) agreed the Terms of Use.
Anything beyond this is mere courtesy (say to give credits or not to contributors whose parts/models one "reuses").
