It can be confusing when a SU beginners like myself see the work of others. I am beginning to believe that most, if not all the good Architectural illustrations shown here are the result of post processing. I am also beginning to believe that most renders are post processed.

I think your right in your observations.
Although it is possible to get presentation quality images straight from the renderer it can take a lot of tweaking. Most of the time it is far easier to get the render looking reasonable then clean it up in pp

Yea.
Some times we don't render the SU models. But still post-process in PS most of the times.
And when we do render - we also post process. Post processing renders are pretty much a must. It takes cares of the final tweaks much quicker than re-rendering over and over again to get it right. You can also save time by inserting photo elements that would otherwise take ages to render - for instance vegetation. -
I haven't used post processing for landscape and other objects (yet). I do it primarily to adjust, brightness, contrast, and gamma.
