Hi, I'm a newbie and I've been using the red axes as a starting point for drawing some of my shapes. This is because I used to be able to snap to the axes if I hovered over it with the cursor. It was helpful when drawing a rectangle, for example. I'm sure it's not even necessary, but I liked it as sort of a security blanket since I really suck. Anyways, suddenly I am unable to snap to the axes just by hovering over the line. My cursor still snaps to other objects and lines, just not the axes lines. Did I accidentally disable it? Can I turn it back on? Did I totally dream that I was snapping to the axes lines? Thanks!

I think when you begin a file-- the first input will snap to the axis and to the origin 0,0,0. All of the input tools are set to apply input to the XY plane when the camera is above the XY plane (the camera--meaning your view of the scene). What I do is draw a line from a known point being on the red axis, or I draw a line from the origin, which is sometimes still snappable after you lose the ability to snap on red or green and I use the line as a snappable entity. This is just my perception/ observation over time.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Unles something goes wrong with your computer/software (like SU), inferencing (snapping) won't just "disappear" and you cannot even disable it (only length and angle snapping).

If you don't get the snap on the red axis, try to hover over the origin first and then pull your pencil away from there. It should "reappear".

In other cases, too, this works; when you hover over something first to let SU know what kind of snapping you want to use thus "encouraging" it to use it rather than some other, often "stronger" inferencing. This can be the most apparent with "on line", "parallel to line" and "perpendicular to line" inferencing but works fine with others, too.

Right after SU is started, I cannot snap my cursor to anything but after a while it is fine again.
I guess all resources are used to get SU on its feet and cannot do much of anything else?
I cannot properly navigate complex models right after I start SU either (it's locked).
