      hello,

Just joined and started to learn Sketch-up, man where was this 10 years ago!! I have been designing for the last 11 years on CAD have to say Sketch-Up is amazing. I am not very techno-suave, but i am slowly getting the hang of it.
I do have a question about scenes or views. I am working on a floor plate and would like to have two views one looking "north" and one looking "south." I am not looking for a perspective but would like to orbit to find the view I like in one direction, but I am not sure how I orbit around to see the other direction with the same angle/tilt of the plan? Does this make since.
I guess i am interested in an iso - in CAD i would hit NW iso button and then SW iso button to get the same view but looking in different direction.
Is there a way to control the orbit?
Any and all help would be appreciated!
      Cheers
      Sean

Hi Sean and welcome to SU as well as SCF.

As for your ISO views, go to your Camera menu. Now there you can toggle between Perspectiveand Parallelprojection - you'll need this latter one for what you want to achieve.

Then again, still in the Camera menu, you can find a Standard views item with its sub-items like Front, back etc. If you haven't changed anything with your axes and north orientation, the Front view will be from the south and (obviously) the Back from the north.

If you plan to use these standard views a lot, place a toolbar for them from the View menu > Toolbars > Views.

If you use scenes for these views, create your scene after navigating to such a view OR if you already have the scenes and want to set the view afterwards, you need to right click on the scene tab and select "Update" from the context menu.

I think that's all for now.

        Gai...

          Thanks Gaieus!!!

Hmm I don't think I explained my problem correctly. I will think about how to re-word and try again, in the mean time I will go thru the posts.

          Cheers!
