Hey Whaat: Profile Builder...?
-
Dale, I'm wondering if profile builder is the answer to this detail: I have curved balcony walls that cut into a curved roof. The rather detailed wall cap has been a bear...no matter how I've positioned or cut up the cap, follow-me gives a corkscrew; using multiple pieces of an extruded cap rotated to match the pieced of top edge doesn't intersect correctly.
I need to be able to follow the top of the wall with a vertical profile...will it do it? If it will, I'll gladly buy it!

Are you suffering from teh twisting of the follow-me tool? If so, you'll experience the same with Profile Builder as currently it uses the FollowMe API call. Though I think me mentioned plans of getting around this.
However, there is two plugins that will do follow me and not twist. One is part of the 1001bit package. The other one is called FollowMe and Keep.. ...I think...

As thomthom says, follow em and keep is the plugin to look for

Thanks Remus (and thanks to wikii too, of course), works pretty well (a couple of glitches? in the center of the big sweep, and of course, the vertical sections won't work and caused me to do it in three pieces:

Maybe you can try also the Shape Bender by Chris Fullmer!
Even the bend of Fredo6 -
... In shape bender, you'd have to do 3 sections aswell, but no glitches

yeah...unfortunately, Profile Builder is based on the native Follow Me tool and cannot help you here. However, if you do a lot of this sort of modelling, it will pay for itself pretty quick.
