However, I went to the site then the purchase pages at Google and the code didn't SEEM to work (it didn't do any discount on the final price). Certainly I didn't proceed to the "extreme" (to submit my order).

Note that to me, only the "sketchup-eustore" available
(http://sketchup-eustore.sketchup.com/) i.e. it redirects there (and it counts in Euros; 381 EUR) while the original link directs to the "us-store" (http://sketchup-store.sketchup.com/).

Is it possible that the code only works there?

Whohoo! Now I am a Pro user at home! (well, when I get my license code that is...)

Though, I didn't like that the Google store displayed the price initially without VAT. It looked so very cheap, but when the VAST was applied it was $85 extra. meh.. whatever...

Yup! Worked fine. Just followed the link in the original post.
(note that my Google lanugage is set to English. Maybe that prevented redirect to different page..? My computer locale is Norwegian.)

(btw, is the license issued manually? Is it normal that I've still not received it?)

My Google language is also English (although my system is Hungarian). Sigh... All those annoyances with different language issues when using Google products. Well, anyway, I don't want to buy another license anyway (I have two, BTW )

It sometimes takes a while for the license to arrive. Also note that it's a week-end and maybe they even celebrated May Day in Boulder!
