    Hi,

    I was sure that there was a Ruby script that performed the same function as "Select Invert" in Photoshop.

    You have an object selected then choose "Select Invert" and that object is deselected and everything else in the scene becomes selected.

    Am I dreaming or did such a thing exist?
    If so, could someone provide a link?

    Thanks
    Mr S

        Hi Pilou,

        Thanks.
        That was exactly what I was looking for.

          Hi Mr S, hi folks.

          Beside using the Pluggin, I see three possibilities:

          POSSIBILITY 1 (nothing is selected):

          1 - Select all (CTRL-A).

          2 - Press and hold the SHIFT key to add to or subtract from the selection.

          3 - Select the object. This will, in fact, deselect it.

          4 - Delete the selection.

          POSSIBILITY 2 (the object is already selected):

          1 - Zoom extend to see all of the model.

          2 - Press and hold the SHIFT key to add to or subtract from the selection.

          3 - Do a window select to enclose all of the model. This shall select all of it and, at the same time, deselect the already selected object.

          4 - Delete the selection.

          POSSIBILITY 3 (the object is already selected):

          1 - Cut the object CTRL-X;

          2 - Select all CTRL-A;

          3 - Delete the selection.

          4 - Paste in place. The previously cutted object reapears at its former location.

          Just ideas.

            those options work in some circumstance but not all..

            well, #3 almost works as invertselection does but the object doesn't reappear until after i move my mouse a little which throws it out of place..

            say i want to keep a few faces.. with invertselection, i just click around on my model to select the faces i wish to keep then run the ruby and hit delete..
            with the methods you suggest, if i do that then the edges will delete and so will the face.

              Hi,

              Actually, this is something I mostly use to hide objects.
              I just select the object I wish to work on , right click, select invert, then hit the hide key. I then have on-screen just what I want.
              It should be a feature built in to the Hide options on the menu.

                Just discovered the actual Ruby I required was this: HideAll.rb
                by Todd Burch

                Similar to the "Isolate" function in 3DS MAX.
                A compact, neat and helpful tool.
