Glass Challenge (all render engines)

Phil, yours looks really good overall, but the faceting on the optical glass lenses is a bit strong. It also appears in a lighter version on the cup I think - in the far inside wall it looks like it might be showing some very small facets. Perhaps the render engine did not recognize SU's smoothing? The cup is very minor, and maybe non-existant. The glasses are rather pronounced though. Otherwise its really really great!
Chris
i think that's a matter of using a low res hdri image.. the glasses are smooth but they're reflecting the highly pixelated background.
-
Jeff I think you are right the HDR is very low res and creates the faceted reflection on the glasses. The Glass is from the 3d warehouse and could possible use more smoothing. Maybe Subdivide and smooth. The facets at the base of the glass are also not rendering as good as they could but heck for 10 minutes of playing arround and letting it render overnight while I was asleep it turned out OK.

A water bottle I found living in my fridge. Modeled it a little while ago. Rendered in indigo.

hi guis i'll try to make a totorial this night about how to make a realistic glass with liquid inside. And a little set of studio shot.
-
Thought I would try one outside the (glass) box. Kerkythea
-
Very nice dale, i reckon it could do with a frame though.

Yes indeed !
I won't do it for Kerkythea... cause it's already been done by KT's materials Grandmaster Patricks. You can find the tutorial here.
In the case of Indigo, there is a tutorial at the end of the User Manual which is included in the installation package.
Interesting to see how the technique differs from one render app to another.

Yeah but, only the technique of making material, becouse modelling there is just 2 ways to make it right, for any render engine you use, for any 3d modeler you use. thats what i'm goin to show, i know that a lot of people already knows but, there is so many others that dont know, i've seen on this topic beautifull renders, but not realistic becouse of that.
