Robotic car

Hi everyone take a look at this: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ea7a86f95c7dbc526227cba038bf7c95&prevstart=0 it's a car i made that can negotiate any racetrack without any modifications. It uses the ontouch tool to "sense" the courses boundaries and act accordingly. Also, what does the ontick function do?

Very cool. And I dont see how it works.

It uses onTouch no-collision objects spread out that change a global variable for steering, and if they don't collide with anything there's a box touching the ground that sets the variable back to zero.
Quite a nice idea, hobbnob!
I'd been trying to do something similar, to keep something flying, but to no avail (yet) -
