I need help purchasing sketchup pro - as in a miracle

Hi Christopher,
I can't advise the best system because I have not tried them all, but I am a one handed user of SketchUp.
I have a Logitech MX Revolution mouse which makes it far better because i can map many of the commands to the 11 different buttons. For example I have move, rotate, pushpull, delete, esc, shift, ctrl, etc all on my mouse which saves using the keyboard and some of the more used icons.
I notice the difference when I use SU at work with a normal mouse. I am always going to press buttons that are not their! I must invest in another one for work.
Definately give one a try if you can afford it, because apart from just SU, it is a fantastic mouse period. -
Fortunately, these days Macs are nothing but pricey PCs. They use the same type of hardware (Intel CPUs, nvidia GPUs) and are thus able to run Windows. The only difference is that Macs come with a paid brother of Linux preinstalled, called "Mac OS X"

Best of luck to you. As you can see most are willing to help. There are a few here that showed their age. Don't be thrown by it, stick with it. There is for sure a way for you to make some money. Work hard, stick close to the forum.

a quick google search reveals this same scenario being pitched around the interweb for the past couple of years.. once for a 30" cinema display and again for adobe creative suite.. it looks like it worked out for the creative suite (seeing how he has dreamweaver) but maybe not so well with the hardware.. the same sticker spiel was used in the past too and i hope adobe doesn't get mad when their stickers are covered up with google stickers..
i'm not at all claiming christopher is f.o.s and trying to scam people but come on man... that mac oct he's thinking about is ~$5,500 without a display or periphreals.. i don't get it. -

Not sure who you are refering to, but I assume it's me as I was the first to question the original post, I suppose I do not wilt to every sob story or believe everything I read without question. I tried to be as respectful and sincere as possible.
Had I intended to be mean I'd question the fact that a person living with a certain condition for all his life with clearly a good understanding of grammar and writting could not spell his condition correctly "spassdic quadreplegic", but I'm not mean and won't.

It's also easy to make grand claims and then refuse to offer anything to back those claims up.

Until your post in this thread there wasn't any negative comments towards Christopher. I don't think your sensitivity in this thread has anything to do with the response to Christopher, it's down to you being asked to back up your speed claims in the MoI thread. And you've been at it again over Solo's "weighty" organic modeling where you claim a superior result to Solo's but again refuse to actually back your claim up with the model.
IMO the response to Christopher has been appropriate. He asked for a free version of SU Pro and he was told that there wasn't really any need for him to have the Pro version when he hasn't even installed the free version and seen what it offers. Until your post nobody brought up the troubling contradictions in his post. And until now, nobody has mentioned the fact that Christopher has managed to whine at length about the treatment of disabled people in both of his 2 posts.

To get the record straight:
I took considerable time (many hours) first of all to experiment with model mesh. I did my best to explain. Solo ignored. I took from that that he didn't think my advise was appropriate. That would suggest that I should not continue in his thread. I posted in another thread for those who have an interest in further optimization of their models. Funny, Solo came out of the woodwork. As I suspected, he dismissed the advise immediately.
Now I'm being dogged by you.

As has already been stated by others here, there is really no reason to bother with the commercial version of SketchUp. It is a contentious issue amongst those that have already bought SketchUp (and pay to upgrade it) that there is nothing like the degree of separation between the Full and Lite versions of SU that one generally expects with other software. The Free version has all the functionality of the commercial version with the exception of a few technical features that you almost certainly wouldn't need....not unless you intend taking the SketchUp model into a CAD program and actually producing full-blown architect's drawings from it. Even then, there are work-arounds for that.If you are serious about it, you could do nothing better than download the free version and play around with it. Follow the links on the Help menu; watch the YouTube tutorials, check out the scripts in the Ruby section of this site...and ask questions. You'll find most people more than eager to help.

I dont care if I spell spastic quadriplegic wrong when Ive written two very long posts that took avery long time to complete. I dont drive, mass transportation in my state for the disabled has to be booked in advance, which makes advertising a small business in my area very difficult. I joined these forums because I figured - hell - if phootshop cant make me any money working from home maybe 3D modeling will. As far as buying new equipment obviously thats entirely up to me, pardon me for asking about whats most important, because I DONT KNOW -ANYTHING- about what hardware best serves a mac enthusiast that builds 3D models working from home. I didnt ask wacom for a free drawing tablet (can I use that with sketchup?), I didnt ask unicomp for a free keyboard and i didnt ask for a free copy of CS3 Design Premium or all the other software Ive bought along the way - but after you've spent over 4k on equipment and training and haven't managed to get off welfare and are still paying that total bill off in $400 increments and your first gen macbookpro is starting to show its age and your still not making any money on your own you start to get desperate. I DIDNT know the free version was all that was needed until someone said something to the contrary but Im not going to apologize for asking a corporation worth billions of dollars to cut me a break because its just not financially feasible for me to throw down another half a grand on software that I now know I don't need to be successful. I'd rather be respectfully denied than miss an oportunity to simply ask for help - the worst they can say is no, and thus far they haven't said anything. I could still use a hand figuring out how to best control sketchup one handed - but after the reception Ive gotten - being called a fraud a liar and other profane things -- having to prove I am what I say I am - which you probably wont believe regardless of the proof I provided above, I think its in my best interest to leave the self righteous to their own devices and move on. I'll figure out sketchup on my own. Just like I have with everything else, and figure out controlling it by trial and error. I'm also not going to apologize for asking for a push in the right direction as far as thats concerned either. I'm a positive person attempting to do the best with what Ive got, and there have been several kind hearted folk that have PM'ed me with information I couldn't get from the forum itself, so take a deep breath and forget I exist. I certainly wont be posting there again - except for the kick ass models i come up with without help... I'll rely on the kind hearted folks that have approached me in private and call it a day. If the link I provided isn't good enough for you - nothing ever will be. And as for the rest of you - there was a day when you didnt know a thing about sketchup and I'm betting even money that you posted here with questions just like me, and made assumptions that were corrected just like me, the only difference being - I posted a request of Google in the wrong place because they didnt provide or I simply didnt find an email address where my requests and control questions could be answered by the folks that put all the goodies together thus I took a chance and posted it on the forums. I wont be making that mistake ever again.

Say what, try the free version first for six months or so. See if you like it, and whether you really do need the Pro version. If it turns out you can't go without the Pro version, I'll gladly put $ 100 into whatever sort of 'SU piggy bank' we'll come up with. That's a promise.
As for being 'called a fraud and a liar' - the net's full of scams. People have become careful. Can you blame them?
