I want to put some dimensions on my floor plan, the exterior dimensions work fine, the interior dimensions..I cannot get them to attach to anything but the midpoint of a wall...?
I have checked the manual and searched here...still cannot find a defined way to do it.
      any suggestions?
      thanks

Hmm do you have a model you could upload and show the problem? Maybe its well known, I'm not really much of a dimensions person. BUt I'd like to see it if possible,

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

          Red,

In the Layout forum, Construction Documents Thread........I posted this:
*RE: Position and Alignment for dimensions.

Tip:Temporary use of a section cut for dimension alignment.

Place a section cut [attached example has cut @ center of cupola]& begin dimensioning.
It is very important that the inference starts X @ intersection of section plane for this to work properly
As long as the inference starts @ the intersection, the dimensions will align nicely.
There are some exceptions, but I find this works quite well.

Apologies if this is "known", but I thought apropriate to include in this thread.*

Perhaps post your model as suggested, and I would be happy to show how I use the section cut method for dimensioning

I "found" one solution, at least for now
that is go to the end of the walls, inference the point and draw the dimensions from there.
Is this the only way it can be dimensioned?
I would think that there is a way to have the dimension connect to a plane or a face, my dimension tool seems to only recognize ends or middle points....

If you select the dimension tool then select the whole line you wish to dimension until its highlighted Blue. then drag the dimension line out parallel along the face or axis you wish to display it on and then click at the final position.
