Another free AutoCAD alternative: A9CAD
-
Today I used it to erase dimensions from an AutoCAD drawing a friend brought, select an area, print to PDF using the free PDF creator, and then open that PDF in Photoshop.
It does not seem to accept typed commands and doesn't open files saved on the super-duper-ultra-latest version of AutoCAD, but I don't care. I only open .swg drawings for cleanup work.

and there is another one too DoubleCAD, which opens sketchup files directly, great if you need to transfer sketchup files into DWG.

it doesn't seem to be too bad as a 2d cad package either

2D DoubleCAD XT (free) is a must!

You can rotate in the space the SU model!

Sure, I have DoubleCAD XT, too... But I have a .dwg file that it simply won't open, so I can say that A9CAD saved my life.

ah yes that pesky "corrupt" or unopenable file situation. recently tried out an intellicad 2009 version that would not open a fie that is otherwise working fine in my 2008 release. Go figure
yeah just mentioned double cad since it has saved me spending cash on some sort of file export for cad, you gotta love the recent developments in low cost CAD alternatives. And when they come out free for ANY USE as opposed to say free for non-commercial (and what is non commercial exactly?) then I am getting really really excited about the future of electronic drawing and art
BIG SHOUT TO GOOGLE for making a free sketchup too!
