      Hi Members,

I feel I have to bring this subject up again, GOOD MANNERS! It costs NOTHING, except a few seconds of your time, to thank a fellow member that has either helped to answer questions or donated a model or Ruby Script.

GOOD MANNERS would seem to be a thing of the past these days and this is a great pity as a simple Thank You can mean a lot to people and encourage them to continue offering their help and donations! Its nice to be appreciated.

Its perfectly understandable not to add a 'thanks' to a LONG list but maybe a short PM to the helpers or donors would be a good and positive thing which in turn will benefit ALL SketchUcation Members.

All I would ask is that we don't forget our GOOD MANNERS on SketchUcation and help to continue to make this place 'The Friendly Place For All Your SketchUp Needs' ๐Ÿ‘

Thank You for taking the time to read this ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Mike

              Hi Mike,

              Thank you for reminding! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Joking aside; true, it is indeed encouraging for others who devote their time and energy to selflessly share their knowledge and help others for free. Most of the time saying "thank you" is an "award" not substitutable by anything else. ๐Ÿ‘

I have to admit that I'm quite poor at replying to other peoples posts.
Unless I can say something constructive I tend not to say anything, I don't like just typing 'Good job' or 'Well done' etc. because they invariably don't reflect the effort/work by the original poster....So I don't type anything....Weird.

I'd love it if we could award stars (like iTunes), that way I could show my appreciation without the need for a 2 word post.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark allies, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Or a simple thumb up. ๐Ÿ‘ I've seen star rating systems on various sites, and they rarely get used properly. Usually just the two extremes, all or none.

First of all... Thanks for bringing this up, Mike...! ๐Ÿ‘
Although this should be common sense and something that applies everywhere, far too many users seem to forget about this...

I tend to agree with thomthom... I don't believe a voting system would be the solution...

The person posting the question should always pay a little gratitude with a small "thank you" note, if someone else have taken time to reply with an answer...

Or... Treat others like you expect them to treat you... ๐Ÿ˜‰

                    Cheers
                    Kim Frederik

                      Hi Paul,

I totally understand your not typing the 'Good Job' or 'Well Done' etc after reading a post. I am talking about members that post questions, then get comprehensive answers, often with time taking models etc and then saying nothing.

I realise that some of these members may well PM the helping member and thank them and that is good but I think a simple 'thanks' or ๐Ÿ‘ on the topic would not go amiss and set a good example.

                      Mike

Also, if you ask a question, then work it out yourself, it'd be very nice that the person posted the solution so that others that come across the post with similar problem can benefit.

                                  Only a little thing but it bugs the hell out of me;

Somebody posts a topic that says "Help urgently needed!!!".
Plenty of people respond with possible solutions but we never hear from the original poster again. What happened to them? Did everything go well or did they die with worry?

i think people that ask questions should have to post their address. that way if they don't respond when answered we could go visit ๐Ÿ‘ฟ them and explain the error of there ways. ๐Ÿคฃ maybe even model them a fish to sleep with. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ or a horse head for their pillow. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
