Best tree generation system
-
Hi!
I'm searching for the best tree gen.
Till this moment, I find 3 systems: Onyx Tree, Xfrog and Speed Tree
According to the web info first two was released in 2003...So, anyone, who was work with this apps, please give your opinions)

you could try component spray (sketchup plugin). It might make your model run slowly though, depending but if you want to render it then you can use the instancing funtion for indigo or kerkythea exporter.
-
l.frisken, i think he wants to make a tree not spread them around. that will be the next question.
-
Ivy is also a very cool vegetal generator
-
Xfrog is great but for use in SU no bloody way!!!, unfortunatly SU has a poly limit so any, I repeat any treee generator will not work great in SU.
Onyx, is also good but read the EULA carefully, and it too is too heavy for SU.Speedtree I cannot coment on as I have never used it.
Vue tree generator works great too, and also converted to SU will kill your speed.
I have heard great reviews of the Renderplus tree generator however, but I've not really tried it.

carrara has a pretty good tree generator, but i have c5pro. i don't know if the new carrara lite or free or whatever its called has the tree generator. anyone know?
i went to check and it turns out that its 'carrara express' and its not free ($99) and it does generate trees and landscapes. i'm pretty sure it was free before but it dosn't seem to be now??

Check out http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/ it's easy to learn (if you like to play a bit) and does it's thing pretty fast; exports DXF, OBJ, and povray (whatever that is); and is completely FREE! But: it will kick SU in the gut bigtime just like the others. (Which is why I started making the 2.5d varieties :`)

Thanks to all)
So, I was tryed Onyx Tree... I can say, that its generate trees with about 100-150K polygons on each. And there is 'minimize' function, that reduce number of polygons to 20-40K
I was launch SU with imported model, and it start to work very slow (AMD 5200+, not the best for the 3D, but...)I'm working with landscape modelling, and I need realistic trees very much
So, what should I do? Maybe settling in 3Dsmax?
Or I have to try SU with imported tree on quad-core processor? Will it help? -
If you need to use high poly trees your better of doing it another app, sketchup whimpers and dies in the face of high poly trees.
-
have you tried RpTreeMaker?

And here's another one:
