Best tree generation system
-
Thanks to all)
So, I was tryed Onyx Tree... I can say, that its generate trees with about 100-150K polygons on each. And there is 'minimize' function, that reduce number of polygons to 20-40K
I was launch SU with imported model, and it start to work very slow (AMD 5200+, not the best for the 3D, but...)I'm working with landscape modelling, and I need realistic trees very much
So, what should I do? Maybe settling in 3Dsmax?
Or I have to try SU with imported tree on quad-core processor? Will it help? -
If you need to use high poly trees your better of doing it another app, sketchup whimpers and dies in the face of high poly trees.
-
have you tried RpTreeMaker?

And here's another one:

Is this Hothouse 3D a Freebie Program? I didn't notice any details about pricing or whether or not this is a trial?
Thx,

You don't see the link following the images?
Maybe glasses is needing

No. . . I didn't see that. Merci.
ps. I do wear glasses. . .. apparently it's time for a perscription change.

@frenchy
tree[d] is pretty cool in itself, but how do you use it with sketchup? I haven't been able to export a usable tree with leaves. -
Try to find a prog who reload format DirectX or a converter then export in 3Ds or other compatible format with SU
Never try -
-
Okay. I wasn't really aware of the use of the direct X format.
But like you're saying - if the the conversion makes the trees bigger than 1-2 mb, I might as well make my own trees.
I've been searching for a good workflow with trees and either kerkythea or indigo. But because of sketchups poly limit, I think kerkytheas proxy replacement option might be the best for fast results, and skindigos dummy components If I' going for an indigo render.@solo
I've noticed quite a few renders you've made with vue. Are you using Xtream or Infinite? (Infinite is the standalone app, right?). And how do you find the sketchup -> vue work flow? I'm really interested in Vue, because of the seemingly unparalleled possibilities with trees and eco environments. -
hi all,
im running a mac with parallel desktop on it. I downloaded tree[d]. But when i try to open the program i get this error massage. "Unable to create 3D scene" does anyone know why? or how to resolve this problem -
Bit of a guess, but i dont think most virtual machines can access the graphics card on your main machine. If the app requires openGL or directX this could cause problems.

Sorry for the late reply, I seemed to have missed your post.
Both Infinite and Xstream are stand alone, the difference is Xstream can integrate with Maya, C4D and Max using other render engines like mentalray, vray, etc.
IMO you do not need any of them as the 'Complet' version has all the bells and whistles needed.
As for integration with SU, Vue 7 can import native SU files so you do not require SU pro to use it, however Vue does not recognise your groups and component structures so having models with hundreds of identical components in SU may seem light but as soon as it gets imported into Vue the all become unique groups which can explode into one huge taxing model, fortunately Vue can handle billions of poly's unlike SU.
