I'm rendering a swimming pavillon that is situated of water. In the beginning, I owuld render my own water but when inserting the background I have, it doesn't look right. So then I rendered without water but noticed that when looking through the glass, I wouldn't be able to see my image behing the glass because it is an image. All I want is to have my background pic with my render , how to I combine the two?

i would probably make a plane (face) in the back behind the building, see red box (image) but put in background. then use the picture as the texture on it so you can see it through the window.

this is the easiest way. there are other techniques but they require post processing in photoshop or similiar.

It's really difficult to answer your question, without knowing what render application you're using... 😐
Just by looking at the image, my immediate thought would be Kerkythea or Podium...

My knowledge about how you do this in Podium is limited, but if this is a render you're making in KT, then I can encourage you to read page 28 in the Getting Started - KT2008 Echo tutorial... 😉

Hope this can help you further...?!? 😉

                      Cheers

Is that the sky you see in the window? You should get an alpha channel you can use if you have it enabled in the VFB section of V-Ray.
