Entity Info box and Materials Palette vanished!
-
I am running SU7 on Windows XP. It has been running fine for the last few weeks.
Today I opened SU as usual, and imported a DWG file to work on. When I clicked on the paint icon, the materials palette did not appear. I checked the palette status on the Window Menu, and it was ticked, as was Entity Info. Neither the materials palette or the entity info box are displayed on the screen.
I have dual monitors, and have tried the obvious - closing down all other apps to see if palettes are hiding behind anything else. I have closed down SU and reopened it, and imported a SU file I have previously created to eliminate it being a DWG issue. They still fail to appear.
Also, have tried the obvious unticking and re-ticking of the palettes. Interestingly, other palettes do appear as they should when selected, but not these two.
I seem to have lost my Entity Info box and Materials Palette. I'm stumped - What's going on? Any ideas/solutions appreciated.

You might want to try upping your screen resolution temporarily, as it sounds the pallets have dropped of the bottom of your screen.

Thanks for the tip Remus. Unfortunately both monitors set to maximum 1680 x 1050 at present. After your suggestion, I have tried different res sizes to see if it reveals the palettes - but no joy.
Since posting this yesterday, I noticed I am having the same problem with the Image Size box in Photoshop (the box is not displayed on the screen - but other boxes 'grey out' as if it were).
Because its only selected palettes, with the majority showing as they should - it would suggest they are minimized or showing off the screen as you suggest.
Is there a (to quote VP Joe Biden) 'reset button' for SketchUp settings, to bring all back as they should be?
In photoshop, I tried Window - Workspace - Reset Palette Locations, and this reset all the palettes, but the dialog box still did not show up when selected. Can't find a similar setting in SU - is there such a thing?
Thanks again for your suggestion.

Reinstalling sketchup would probably do it, although im sure theres a better way.

That's just crazy enough to work! I agree, it should be easier than that - but it sounds like the fastest route to sorting out the immediate issue.
I'll do it later today, and feedback the result.
Thanks again

What about the registry?
Under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp7\
I think the entity info is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp7\ModelInfoDlg
Not 100% usre what the material editor is, I first thought it was
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp7\ModalEditMaterialDlg
, but that's the window when you create/edit a material. In any case, all the SU tool window setting end with Dlg at the end.

hmmm... Might be under the Snappy* options...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp7\SnappyMaterials

I reinstalled SU7 and all is well!
I'm afraid working in the registry is beyond my humble capabilities! But thanks for the advice anyway, thomthom.
Thanks for your suggestions guys - much appreciated.

Sorry for being late (and I'm not even sure this would've helped) but here's another tip just in case.

Ah yea. I've resorted that some times with windows flying off screen.
