      😞
      Hello Folks,
Quite often I get triangular flashes of colour, strange shapes, etc. that force me to move back and find some angle that moves them out of sight.
Can you tell me what causes them, what I may be doing wrong, etc ?
      Thanks
      Mario

It sounds like it might be a z fighting issue.

basically it happens when you have 2 faces sharing the same space in SU. you can easily select one of the faces and delete it. This should sort it out (if z fighting is the issue.)

          Hi Mario,

I am pretty sure that this is the so called "Z fighting" which menas that there are more than one coplanar faces in the same place (imagine two groups on top of each other) where SU cannot decide which face to display and therefore they "fight" for visibility.

You should always avoid such situations by deleting either of the two faces. See a file attached with an intentional example (orbit a bit around).

Strange distortions like circles looking like cut potatoes, accompanied with strange clipping and triangles jutting out of objects are also the standard symptoms of too large model extents (either the model is too far from the SU origin or the model has parts (stray lines from a CAD import are enough) that are located somewhere beyond the horizon.

Thank you Gaieus, Remus and Anssi,

It's surely the co-planar surface problem (Z fighting) since I remember re-drawing the same surfaces somewhere. Will re-examine the drawing and find out.
                  Thanks a lot
                  Bye
