Hello All and Happy New Year!
I have a component that I am trying to place in a model, and when I do so - I get a message that says "Can't place component here". I have tried to place it at all places in the model. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi Jeff,
Where are you trying to place this component from? From within the model, from somewhere on your HD, from the Warehouse?
-
Hello Gaieus,
I got the component from the warehouse. It is the sail portion of a sailboat that I want to affix to the side of a tall building.
Best Regards,
Jeff O.

Okay Jeff, could you now paste the URL of that particular component here?
-
Hello Gaieus,
Thanks for your assistance! Here is an attachment of the sail. There are three copies of the sail in this attachment (I'll only be using one.)
Cheers!

Hi Jeff,
There are already 3 instances of the sail component in the model and I could place a 4th one without any problem.
When exactly are you getting this message?

Hello Gaieus,
I aded the component to my architecture library by dragging it in there. When I drag it out of the arch. library into the model - everything seems to be working fine - then I try to click the mouse to lock it in place - and then i see this dialogue that says "Can't place compoment here". When I readied the component to place in the arch. library - I told sketchup to use vertical surface as gluing surface.
Thanks!

Well, gluing planes are gluing planes; if you changed the gluing plane to vertical and try to place it onto any other, it will give you this message.
Go to your component browser, select the component and choose the edit tab above to change the gluing plane.

This error message has to do with gluing planes, un-check "cut opening" and try again

Thank you Gaieus and jessejames! I really appreciate your assistance. I'll give your ideas a try.
Cheers,
Jeff O.
